September 5th, 2011

purple-question-mark1

Welcome to this weeks summary of lingerie chat! The topic of this week’s lingerie chat was an open Q and A. Here is a summary of everything we chatted about:

@Jacqueline_Soak asked, “We are now warehousing in the UK. What would be a good strategy for introducing Soak to stockists?”

@Plums Lingerie said, “It’s tricky in a recession, your wash may be regarded as an added luxury rather than essential.”

@JanesVanity said, “We’ve carried Soak for years. Customers have become quite loyal to it; it’s a great fit for a lingerie shop!”

@franticafrances asked, “Do you think customers prefer ‘basic’ undies, or luxury feminine undies?… how do customers find out about different lingerie brands? Adverts? Internet? Celebs?”

While most of our participants would opt for luxury pieces, it was noted that basic were popular and have a place, and that customer are loyal to the brands they adore. It was also agreed that building loyalty, no matter the brand, was a must:

Lingerie Chat – Nightwear

20061108-Rita.Hayworth.HQ.01 Welcome to this weeks summary of lingerie chat! The topic of this week’s lingerie chat was all about nightwear. This post is a summary of everything we chatted about:

Q1. "What would you define as nightwear?"

There were quite a variety of answers here…

@copygeniusgirl began, "Nightgowns, pajamas, oversized t-shirts. I can never find anything in the first two categories that fit though!"

@LibertyImages said, "Nightgowns, supportive camis."

@campbellkate said, "Anything I feel sheepish going out in to pick up the newspaper."

@LingerieDiva said, "Anything that you sleep in, not just wear for fun & then take off"

Lingerie For Darker Skintones – BeingU

August 25th, 2011

image

beingU is a new brand of lingerie designed to fill a gap in the market.  Nude lingerie for pale skin tones dominates leaving little to no choice for many women. beingU seeks to address this and they have brought a range of lingerie with 5 colours to suit different skin tones.  But like many new designers they face a challenge to get a foot hold so how successful will they be?

There is definitely a gap with what is already available and with the size range from a D to H cup they have targeted a significant market. With the sizes they have chosen fit is key, some designers can take a few seasons to work out any kinks with the fit.  I think their best chance of success is to be taken up by stores that receive a large amount of people traffic such as Debenhams and Bravissimo.

A bra and brief set start from £58, which is an attractive price point. I like that the collection is very inclusive with designs and colours that would appeal to all skin tones including a lovely bright turquoise and patterns on the nude tones what can be worn by anyone.

Lingerie Chat Summary 9th August

August 22nd, 2011

Welcome to this weeks summary of lingerie chat! The topic of this week’s lingerie chat was all about High Street vs. Online! This post is a summary of everything we chatted about:

Computer mouse series Q1. "How do you feel about lingerie shopping? Love the experience of shopping or just the items you buy?"

There were answers on both sides of this question:

Many felt shopping in a store was the best option — @iamaliciarose said, "I much prefer to go into a shop and buy. online is ok for lusting after something, but i never tend to actually buy online… I LOVE just wandering round the lingerie shops, having a good old nose at the way it’s been made etc." and @DirectorySexy said, "I almost always go into buy, is easier to hide from the other half than if it arrived by mail LOL.” While @piperewan said, “i like to touch things, and try them on first.”

Lingerie Chat 2nd August – Lingerie Drawer Essentials

August 9th, 2011

Welcome to this weeks summary of lingerie chat! The topic of this week’s lingerie chat was all about lingerie essentials! This post is a summary of everything we chatted about:

The primary question asked was, "What is the top lingerie essential you own?"

@PS_Lingerie said, "If we are including accessories our biggest seller by far is tape, tape and more tape…" This was to keep bras from showing and to tape gaps closed,’making’ bras for barely there dresses, mending hems.. @piperewan noted that this sounded a bit blasphemous to her as a seamstress, but @PS_Lingerie said, "It’s a (very) short term (& cheap) fix – much better to have support built in dress :) "

@MagnifiqueBras said, "nude color matching bra & panties so I can wear them with many things… & then of course darker bra & panties for my dark clothes. I ♥ matching sets." @Plums Lingerie agreed that nudes hues were useful, while @AABigHeart said, "I love matching sets too, but they quite a rare delicacy in an AA-cup size."

The Minimiser Bra – Miracle Solution For Curvy Girls?

August 6th, 2011

PD_Naboo_FumyGrey_01 Reduce your bust by inches, no surgery and no dieting required!

Wow! For busty beauties who struggle to find tops and dresses that don’t strain with challenge of keeping their assets contained this can sound like a miracle solution.  So what is it?

THE MINIMISER (To be said in an action trailer voice over way)

You know the saying, if it sounds to good to be true it usually is…. well the minimiser bra is just that.  The bra is designed to reduce the circumference of your chest and it does this by squishing it down.  This means you lose the definition of two breasts and your chest takes on the appearance of a spare tire.  Not only does it not look great having your boobs squished down can be really uncomfortable, your breasts are meant to be on you chest not pushed under your armpits.

Lingerie Chat – Bridal Lingerie 19th July

July 25th, 2011

PD_Kensington_Spumant.jpg, Welcome to this weeks summary of lingerie chat! The topic of this week’s lingerie chat was all about bridal lingerie. This post is a summary of everything we chatted about:

Q1. @DirectorySexy asked, “I’ve been curious as to what’s most important part of bridal lingerie is, as in what do most women look for in bridal lingerie?”

@piperewan said, “I think it’s important to differentiate between what you need as foundation garments for a particular dress & your bridal bed (wedding night/honeymoon)…sometimes the underpinnings for a bridal gown aren’t the sexiest underneath, but provide the proper structure for the dress… I tend to build it in or around the dress for what the bride wants & works best for design & fit of the dress”

Show Off Your Shapewear

July 20th, 2011

I adore my lingerie, pretty, frilly, lacy, satins and silks and it has been known that I may give a quick flash when out an about advertising purposes.  However there are some pieces that should never never been seen by another….. Those miracle working beige foundation items that help smooth and shape enabling you to slip in to a slinky gown, effortlessly avoiding any lumps and bumps.

Shapewear is a lingerie drawer staple whether you are a size 8 or 18 there is always some dress or outfit that will require their smoothing properties but they are hardly glamorous and certainly not something you will feel sexy in while disrobing in front of your other half.  So why is it that we tend to buy shapewear in black or nude?  The irony is that shapewear occasions are often those when we want to feel most alluring, not like a beige sausage.
