Lingerie Chat – Bridal Lingerie 19th July

Monday, July 25th, 2011

PD_Kensington_Spumant.jpg, Welcome to this weeks summary of lingerie chat! The topic of this week’s lingerie chat was all about bridal lingerie. This post is a summary of everything we chatted about:

Q1. @DirectorySexy asked, “I’ve been curious as to what’s most important part of bridal lingerie is, as in what do most women look for in bridal lingerie?”

@piperewan said, “I think it’s important to differentiate between what you need as foundation garments for a particular dress & your bridal bed (wedding night/honeymoon)…sometimes the underpinnings for a bridal gown aren’t the sexiest underneath, but provide the proper structure for the dress… I tend to build it in or around the dress for what the bride wants & works best for design & fit of the dress”

Wedding Night Lingerie Guide

Saturday, June 18th, 2011

bellini gown template With all the excitement of the big day it can be easy to forget about the wedding night lingerie.  Traditionally this would have been the first time a groom would spend the night with his bride.  It’s very different now and the majority of brides have already lived with their future husband and so there is very little mystery.

If you aren’t too exhausted it is a lovely idea to get changed in to a gorgeous little negligee or chemise and there is a huge range to suit everyone. Many brides like to wear an ivory or other very pale colour leaving the brighter lingerie for the honeymoon.

5 Tips to Choosing Your Bridal Hosiery

Friday, May 20th, 2011

lise charmel This is part 3 of the Plums Bridal Lingerie series. Once you have got your bra, if you need one, and briefs it’s time to decided whether or not you are going to be wearing hosiery.  Many brides wear open toe shoes so will go bare legged but if you would like to go all out here’s my guide to stockings, tights and hold ups for your big day.

1. Remember this is going to be a long day, make sure you are comfortable.  Tights can get a bit hot especially if you have a full layered skirt on your dress. If you decide to wear hold ups buy good quality and they will not dig in or rub.  A good sign is a wide band at the top.

2. If you decide to wear stockings give the suspender belt a test run.  Make sure it stays in place and get used to snapping in your stockings.

4 Lingerie Solutions For Your Wedding Day

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

Love is in the air and Kate and Wills have kicked off the wedding season with their nuptials.  If you are getting ready for your wedding you will want to feel like a princess from head to toe.  Here is our guide to picking the correct lingerie for your big day.

1. Bandeau Style

There are two options for the bandeau style dress.  Brides usually head straight towards a traditional strapless bra but depending on the dress you could look at a basque. Not only are basques more glamorous they also stay firmly in place so you don’t have to worry about it slipping.  If the dress is not structured you will need to make sure the basque lines don’t show through.

2. Halterneck

The bra you choose will depend on how low the back of the dress is.  If it’s a sccop back and low at the front you will have to look at stick on cups or breast petals but if you can go without anything that maybe the best idea after all it’s not the most glamarous look when you de-robe.  If the back is higher you could try a convertible bra with a plunge front like the Marie Jo Avero Mulitway bra.  Just  ensure the straps follow the line of the dress and don’t stick out.

3. Corseted

Many dresses are very structured and the bodice is boned  and laced up the back.  Usually this boning will provide enough support so you can go without a bra.  If you decide to wear a bra you may end up feeling constricted and uncomfortable.

4. Strapped

A normal bra can be worn with the dress.  The key considerations are will the straps follow the same line as the dress straps and whether to choose a smooth or lace cup.  If the dress is clingy a underwired body is a great solution to make sure you have a smooth line.  The Marie Jo Jane body is a good choice if you want a smooth look that doesn’t look utilitarian.
